pizzaCouple of pizza-related nuggets:
  • A new pizza restaurant called ZA is planned for the former Slinky women's clothing store near 62nd Street and College Avenue in Broad Ripple. Plans call for the restaurant to take about 800 square feet at 801 Broad Ripple Ave.

  • Monical's Pizza has filed plans to open a new restaurant at Glendale Town Center. The Illinois-based chain, which is taking about 3,900 square feet, already has locations in Fishers, Carmel and Traders Point.

  • America's Incredible Pizza Co. is plans to take over a former Kroger grocery store next to County Line mall for a pizza buffet and entertainment center. It's the first Indianapolis area location for the Missouri-based chain.
    • Aren't there already three establishments (Marco's, Bazbeaux's, and Hot Box) that specialize in pizza within 300 feet of 810 Broadripple Ave? And aren't there also umpteen different bars on the street that have pizza on the menu (including OPT and Union Jacks who are well known for it)?

      Seems like a long shot.
    • Did I miss the news about the Argentinian restaurant and the deli/general store that just opened up on Washington between Red's and Dunkin' Donuts?
    • Jay: Yes. Check it out:
    • Dana, there's also all the chain places at the other end of BR Ave (by Glendale, where the other new place is going): Pizza Hut x2, Domino's, Papa Murphy's, Papa John's, Donato's, Fazoli's.
    • Monical's also has an Avon location.
    • and Noblesville
    • How many more pizzaria's can one metro area absorb? When in Greenwood, try Hometowne Pizza. 1 Location.....excellent pizza.
    • Monical's is different than the rest of the chains! You need to try it. Extremely thin crackery type crust with generous toppings. I grew up on this pizza and it's in a class by itself. Please try it... you'll be glad you did! Several people who haven't had it before and have tried have become big fans!
    • I love pizza and the free market!

We need more risk takers and beer.
    • Lawdy if we open one more pizza and sub shop (Firehouse Subs is coming here) I am going to scream and eat and scream (lol)
    • I can't wait for America's Incredible Pizza to open. It's location is right behind Movies 8 on the southside less than a block north of County Line Rd. I will be able to walk to this place with my grandkids.
    • Monical's.....home of the Salty tasting pizza. If you like licking salt, you will love this pizza. I still want my twenty five bucks for that mistake.
    • Wasn't there supposed to be a new sushi place opening in Broad Ripple?
    • Some new pizza places donwtown / Center Twp would be super.

America's Incredible Pizza? Somehow, I suspect the quality of this pizza might be very believable.

Best pizza in town: Maria's in Fountain Square.
    • ZA will be selling pizza by the slice, making their own dough and sauces, staying open late and providing something Broad Ripple needs....a really GOOD,locally owned pizza.
    • Having just moved back to Indy after spending a year in KC there is one thing about KC I really miss. SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza. Wow that place is good.

If anyone is going to be in KC I highly recommend it. Click on my name for the link.
    • Greek's Pizzeria also just recently opened right there.
Noble Roman's closed one of their unit in Noblesville.
    • Brozzinni's Pizza on the southside, although pricey, is delicious.
    • As of this evening, it appears the Domino's near Glendale is closed.
    • Sumbuddy needs to open up another brew pub in the BR/Glendale area.

p.s: heard Famous Footwear is on the ropes there. Trying to be the DSW is not working.

Famous footwear: overpriced, not famous, and no selection. :booo:
    • Michael, isn't Bazbeaux locally owned? I know for certain it's GOOD. And pizza by the slice just doesn't, to this well-over-20-something, sound very high quality. Not that I won't try it, I pretty much love all pizza.

I heard today that Greek's will let you bring your dog onto the outdoor deck to eat. This will be excellent news to some, bad to others!
    • Operators -

Beware the late night lure that is so often talked about around BR. All is not what it seems... You have been warned.
    • average joe: souds like he doesn;t wantany competition.

but thanks for the warning, lol.
    • Not a business owner in the area just an observer and fan of the neighborhood
    • I tried ZA Pizza this week. I was not impressed.
    • Is it true that Neal Brown is doing Pizza in Carmel? I heard this twice in one day. Anyone have info on this? That would have to be some great pizza.

    1. I had read earlier this spring that Noodles & Co was going to open in the Fishers Marketplace (which is SR 37 and 131st St, not 141st St, just FYI). Any word on that? Also, do you happen to know what is being built in Carmel at Pennsylvania and Old Meridian? May just be an office building but I'm not sure.

    2. I'm sorry, but you are flat out wrong. There are few tracks in the world with the history of IMS and probably NO OTHER as widely known and recognized. I don't care what you think about the stat of Indy Car racing, these are pretty hard things to dispute.

    3. Also wondering if there is an update on the Brockway Pub-Danny Boy restaurant/taproom that was planned for the village as well?

    4. Why does the majority get to trample on the rights of the minority? You do realize that banning gay marriage does not rid the world of gay people, right? They are still going to be around and they are still going to continue to exist. The best way to get it all out of the spotlight? LEGALIZE IT! If gay marriage is legal, they will get to stop trying to push for it and you will get to stop seeing it all over the news. Why do Christians get to decide what is moral?? Why do you get to push your religion on others? How would legalizing gay marriage expose their lifestyle to your children? By the way, their lifestyle is going to continue whether gay marriage is legalized or not. It's been legal in Canada for quite a while now and they seem to be doing just fine. What about actual rules handed down by God? What about not working on Sundays? What about obeying your parents? What about adultery? These are in the 10 Commandments, the most important of God's rules. Yet they are all perfectly legal. What about divorce? Only God is allowed to dissolve a marriage so why don't you work hard to get divorce banned? Why do you get to pick and choose the parts of the Bible you care about?

    5. Look at the bright side. With the new Lowe's call center, that means 1000 jobs at $10 bucks an hour. IMS has to be drooling over all that disposable income. If those employees can save all their extra money after bills, in five years they can go to the race LIVE. Can you say attendance boost?
