State Fairgrounds to debut new $10M Youth Arena

Indiana State Fair officials say a $10 million arena devoted to 4-H and other youth events will open its doors when this year's fair gets underway Friday.

The 30,000-square-foot Youth Arena will debut as the site of 4-H Horse & Pony classes and events. The fairgrounds' newest building will also host livestock shows, draft horse competitions and other events during the fair's 17-day run.

The building will be officially dedicated during the fair on Aug. 10.

The Youth Arena has a tinted glass and Indiana limestone exterior. Its inside boasts an arena floor with easy access for both people and livestock. Fair officials say the building's floor is comparable to that of the Fairgrounds' Coliseum, which is in the midst of a $53 million renovation.

  • Flawed Plans
It's too bad that most of the fair goers won't get to see much of the Youth Arena, access to the Youth Arena is restricted (per the fair brochure).
  • Next to Coliseum
It's just a reprint of an AP story, but anyone who has been paying attention to IBJ knows that it is directly south of the Coliseum.
  • where is it?
How about telling us where its located?
