Box maker halting production, putting 97 out of work

March 30, 2010

Ninety-seven employees at a box-making plant in Evansville will lose their jobs on May 28, according to a notice filed Monday with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

Austin, Texas-based Temple-Inland Inc. said the job losses will result from its decision to stop producing boxes at its Evansville facility. Sales, customer service, design and warehouse operations will continue at the location, however, the company said.

Temple-Inland, whose main lines of business are corrugated packaging and building products, has more than 75 locations in the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico, including three in Indianapolis.
