Nearing the end of a fourfold expansion, Joy’s House adult day care will soon need many more furnishings. When the old
farmhouse on Broad Ripple Avenue opened nine years ago, supporters donated lamps and sofas from their
own homes.

Joy’s House
founder Tina McIntosh hopes to keep that personal connection alive even as the house expands from 3,000 square
feet to 12,000 square feet and goes from serving 23 guests a day to as many as 45.

"The big concern we had was, we still need to feel ‘Ma and Pa,’ very home-like," she
said. "We still want the community to be engaged in what we’re doing."

Joy’s House has created a registry at www.spreadingjoy.org.
Donors can choose an item as expensive as a new sofa, or as modest as a cookie sheet with the assurance
that their money will be used specifically to buy that item.

"We will buy exactly what’s on this registry," McIntosh said. "So when you walk
in, you will know exactly what you brought to this house."

The registry contains about $200,000 worth of furnishings, part of the $400,000 Joy’s House needs
to raise this year to complete its $2 million capital campaign.

The grand opening is planned for August.
