Visitors to the Indiana State Fair will have a chance to peek into the possible future of the region’s transit system. On Aug. 19, a rapid-transit vehicle from Cleveland will be on display on State Fair Boulevard, along with a model of a rail car used in modern transit systems. A hybrid-powered bus also will be displayed and visitors will see a model of a transit station akin to what someday could be built at 38th Street and Fall Creek Parkway.
The first leg of a rail system, if built, could run on the former Nickel Plate track that passes along the eastern end of the fairgrounds and extends to Tipton.
