Newnan, Ga.-based Bon L. Manufacturing Co. notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on Friday that it will close its plant in the town of Kentland near the Illinois border.
The company manufactures custom aluminum extrusions for the building and construction industries.
Bon L. told the state in its filing that layoffs will occur in three stages beginning in early April and running until mid-June.
Some of the 146 employees who will lose their jobs are represented by the United Steelworkers Union, District 7.
Bon L. gave no reason for the plant closing. The company also has a manufacturing plant in Carthage, Tenn.
Kentland, about 100 miles from Indianapolis, has a population of about 1,750.
