The Finish Line Inc. has entered into a multi-year agreement with Special Olympics to sell the organization’s merchandise online and in its stores nationwide, the Indianapolis-based retailer announced Tuesday.

As part of the partnership, the company will support the Washington, D.C.-based Special Olympics by serving as the first national sponsor for its new TRAIN, or Testing Recreational Activities and Improving Nutrition, program. It’s a sports assessment and nutrition education program to help Special Olympics athletes stay healthy and achieve personal goals.

In addition, Finish Line employees and members of its not-for-profit Finish Line Youth Foundation will volunteer at the 2012 Special Olympics Summer Games in Indiana, and in the Chicago and Atlanta markets. The company plans to participate in additional games in coming years.

Special Olympics also will benefit from an in-store and online holiday season customer and employee donation program that Finish Line plans to establish.

Finish Line is a publicly traded company that operates about 640 stores in malls throughout the United States.
