Frank Howard, founder of Indianapolis-based IT provider L5 Solutions, has purchased a Carmel party venue/event-planning service and moved it to Castleton. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

EventzPlus, launched by serial entrepreneur Jenn Kampmeier and partner Colleen Page last year, will begin hosting gatherings at the new facility next month. The sprawling building at 7960 Castleway Drive, formerly home to a church congregation, also houses Howard’s four-person tech firm.

Kampmeier will help Howard with the transition, but she is eager to focus on her next endeavor: Purple Pail, an online marketplace for family-oriented products, which was set to launch May 10.

Howard, 35, also wants to expand on EventzPlus’ twice-weekly “coffee and croissants” sessions by offering solo business owners a place to set up shop every day. He plans to open Indy CoZ, a membership-based co-working space, in the building this summer.

“I describe it as a cross between Starbucks and executive office suites,” he said.

Members—mostly independent professionals now working from home—will have access to everything they need to conduct business, he said, as well as a “community” of like-minded individuals.

Howard is still working on membership details, but hopes to refine the idea with the help of that community. He doesn’t expect to begin charging users until August, offering free space initially in exchange for their feedback.

“We want to find out what they need and want and put our money into that,” Howard said.
