As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowFormer Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall Shepard has joined the Indiana University Public Policy Institute as its first executive-in-residence, IU announced Thursday.
PPI is part of the university’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs, or SPEA.
Under the two-year appointment, Shepard will lead executive seminars, and mentor faculty and staff as they develop academic programs focused on the relationship between law and public policy.
"Justice Shepard is without question one of the legal giants in the history of Indiana, and it is an honor to have him associated with Indiana University in this important capacity," IU President Michael A. McRobbie said in a prepared statement.
Shepard retired in March after serving on the State Supreme Court for 27 years, all but two of those as chief justice. He plans to continue his judicial wok as a senior judge for the Indiana Court of Appeals.
