It is not surprising to read Jon Sinder’s [June 11 letter] tired old defense of Indiana’s archaic liquor laws by somehow suggesting the package liquor store industry is more responsible when it comes to selling alcoholic beverages.

Nothing could be further from the truth. For the last three years, the Indiana State Excise Police began testing business outlets that sold alcohol by using underage participants in sting operations. Three years of data demonstrate that liquor stores are more than twice as likely to sell to minors as drug, grocery and convenience stores.

This begs the question: Why does the state of Indiana give the exclusive right to sell cold beer to the segment of the retail marketplace most likely to sell to minors?
