Law firm Faegre Baker Daniels LLP has named former Indiana State Sen. J. Murray Clark as its leader of its Indianapolis office.

Clark is a partner in the firm’s government, and real estate and construction practices.

As office leader, Clark succeeds Jacqueline A. Simmons, who became vice president and general counsel of Indiana University on July 1.

Clark is chairman of the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee. He served as chairman of the Indiana Republican Party from 2006 to 2010 after spending 11 years as a state senator, representing portions of Marion and Hamilton counties.

Clark unsuccessfully ran for lieutenant governor in 2000 as running mate to David McIntosh.

Faegre Baker Daniels was formed in January through the merger of Indianapolis-based Baker & Daniels LLP and Minneapolis-based Faegre & Benson LLP. The firm has more than 140 attorneys in Indianapolis.
