The improvements have truly changed the face of the previously blighted area on and around Main Street in Speedway, the area adjacent to Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
And with 200,000 people visiting the area at the end of the month, race fans have every reason now to shop, dine in and explore the area.
With the Dallara IndyCar Factory, IndyCar Experience and Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing lining the street, the racing community has embraced redevelopment efforts by the town and the Speedway Redevelopment Commission.
Key to the success of the Speedway Redevelopment Commission’s Master Plan has been its understanding that it’s critical to get infrastructure in place prior to any significant development. Speedway has done that from the beginning and continues to do that as projects advance. Infrastructure updates to the area make Main Street walkable and environmentally friendly for patrons enjoying the many dining options, including Lino’s Coffee, Dawson’s, YoguLatte and Johnny Bueno’s Pizzeria.
We look forward to continuing to better the Speedway area for years to come to fulfill the promise that Speedway is “more than a day in May.”
