Barnes & Thornburg LLP, the city’s largest law firm, has landed veteran labor lawyer Jeffrey Mallamad.

Mallamad, who since 1990 had chaired the labor and employment practice group at Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP, defends employers in lawsuits filed in federal and state courts, and has represented some of Indiana’s largest companies in union and collective-bargaining matters.

“His leadership skills and ability to command the confidence of his peers is a welcome addition to our department,” said Kenneth J. Yerkes, chairman of the firm’s labor and employment law department, in a prepared statement.

Mallamad also previously served as an attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Denver, where he supervised federal civil rights litigation for a six-state region.

Barnes & Thornburg has 242 lawyers at its local office, ranking it as the city’s largest law firm.
