At least three homeowners near the park on the city's far-east side say the water levels in their wells have dropped 30 feet or more since irrigation started at the park in the past couple of weeks.
Brenda Limbach told WRTV that she and her husband have lived in their home for 11 years without any well problems. She said they spent about $6,200 to replace their well after its pump burned out.
Department of Public Works spokeswoman Stephanie Wilson told The Indianapolis Star that the city will accept financial responsibility for the problems if tests determine the park's well is at fault.
The city is spending about $6 million to build the park, which will include fields for cricket, lacrosse and hurling, among other sports.
