The Indiana Economic Development Corp. announced two economic development deals Tuesday morning that will bring more than 200 jobs to Whitley County in northern Indiana.

Gator Cases Inc., a manufacturer of cases, bags and music stands, said it will invest $4.5 million to lease, renovate and equip a 168,000-square-foot distribution center in Columbia City, leading to as many as 106 new jobs by 2016.

The 13-year-old company already has a manufacturing plant in the city 120 miles northeast of Indianapolis, but plans to move its distribution operations from Chattanooga, Tenn. Gator Cases currently has 28 full-time workers in Indiana.

The IEDC offered Gator Cases up to $550,000 in conditional tax credits based on the job-creation plans. Whitley County approved a tax abatement.

In the second deal, Micropulse Inc., a medical device manufacturer for the orthopedic and cardiovascular industries, said it would expand its operations in Columbia City, creating 100 jobs by 2016.

Micropulse said it would spend $14.3 million to equip and expand its current 100,000-square-foot facility in two phases through 2017. The expansion would add 60,000 feet to its headquarters.

The 25-year-old company already has 240 full-time employees in Indiana.

The IEDC offered Micropulse up to $700,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $50,000 in training grants based on the job-creation plans. Whitley County approved a tax abatement.
