Enough bashing of Coats, religion

The bashing of religion and the Republican Party’s continuing war on women is past being a weary read [Kennedy column, Nov. 18]. When facts and truths aren’t available to make a point, this is the road that all progressives travel. Kennedy knows this, but her need to take Sen. Coats to the woodshed was too great.

I found it instructive that the issue was really about the Constitution. There has never been a progressive who didn’t believe in the First Amendment, as it allows for just about everything. As we’re seeing in downtown Indianapolis, the issue concerning panhandlers isn’t that they’re soliciting (begging) for money; it’s about free speech. Just ask the ACLU.
