With less than two weeks to go, the 38th 500 Festival Mini Marathon might not have a full field for the first time in 12 years.
Organizers told WISH-TV that registrations would stay open for both the 13.1-mile half-marathon and its five-kilometer run until the start of the May 3 races if necessary.
A 500 Festival spokeswoman, Megan Bulla, said falling short of a sellout might occur but not the race's distinction as the country's largest half-marathon. She said 31,000 people finished the half-marathon last year.
