Tradesmen team with volunteers to fix Crooked Creek homes

May 3, 2014

Teams of tradesmen, followed by an army of unskilled volunteers, descended on the Crooked Creek neighborhood in April to fix up 20 homes.

Rebuilding Together Indianapolis, the local branch of a national not-for-profit organization, chose Crooked Creek for its annual fix-up event. The organization works with workers from the union trades to do repairs for low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners.

On April 19, more than 75 members of construction trade unions did the prep work for about 400 unskilled volunteers who gathered the following weekend in the neighborhood, which is near Michigan Road and 64th Street.

Rebuilding Together Indianapolis has worked on 350 homes over the last 15 years.
