An affiliate of Lutheran Health Network in Fort Wayne said Thursday that it plans to hire up to 320 workers by 2017, bringing more than $3 million in incentives from state officials.

Currently, Shared Services Center Fort Wayne employs about 175 workers who provide such services as processing medical insurance claims, billing, appeals, insurance collection and customer service for the network’s hospitals and others in the region.

To accommodate its planned growth, the Center intends to relocate to 62,000 square feet of leased space at 1700 Magnavox Way in Fort Wayne.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered the Center up to $3.25 million in conditional tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants based on the company’s job plans. The credits are performance-based, meaning they can’t be claimed until workers are hired.

The Center also has received commitments for $78,303 toward in-kind services and on-the-job training from Northeast Indiana Works.

The Center already has begun filling open positions, according to IEDC.

Lutheran Health Network includes eight hospitals in northeast Indiana, with nearly 1,000 beds and more than 7,000 employees.
