Pendleton-based manufacturer Remy International Inc. saw profit rise significantly in the first quarter on higher revenue, the company announced late Wednesday.
The company reported profit of $9.5 million in the period, up from $1.8 million in the same quarter of 2013.
Revenue jumped 7 percent, to $300.3 million, as sales picked up 25 percent in the North America Light Duty Aftermarket category and 72 percent in China.
Remy is one of the world's leading manufacturers of starter motors and alternators for light-vehicle and commercial-vehicle applications.
Remy shares closed at $25.87 each Thursday, up 36 cents on the day.
