After a 12-year run, upscale Italian restaurant Bertolini's has closed its Circle
Centre location. The restaurant, on the first floor of the mall next to P.F. Chang's and Champps, was part of Chicago-based
Morton's Restaurant Group. The company, like most upscale chains, has struggled in recent months as the economy flounders.
In a statement to IBJ, Morton's said the local restaurant wasn't profitable. Bertolini's still has two locations: in Las Vegas
and King of Prussia, Pa. The Circle Centre space doesn't have street access, but with exterior signage it could be a great
location, said retail broker Steve Delaney. What sounds good for here?

How about that French place out at the Holiday Inn Airport that’s closing? I heard they were considering reopening in downtown…
I love this idea, I always prefer local restaurants to chains. I hate to say it, but Cheesecake Factory would work really well in this spot.
Cory, any word on why Victoria's Secret moved to the 4th floor of Circle Center?
I'm disappointed about Bertolini's; I too liked it. Panda Express would be appropriate opening below Payless Shoe Source; but hopefully the space will be filled with something of similar quality to that of Bertolini's.
:runs:
Also, it was rumored by one of the TGIF staff at the courtyard that they have been eyeing the Golds Gym (or whatever used to be there) spot on Illinois and Market across from TGMaxx as a possibly move. However, there was talk that they would just close down until the proprty is built and then re-open. Don't see how they could afford to do that though. It's a cash mine because it's the only place close for all of the NCAA IHSAA and museum workers plus all of victory field and Whiute River Park.
Panda Express doesn't belong anywhere but in a food court and I wouldn't eat there regardless of location.
WTF? I-could-puke-o Joe's is the epitome of Americanized Mexican food. Squeeze bottle salsa. Slap some more goo on it, that'll make it better.
Cory, WHERE is the Del Taco we were told about last fall?????
Acapulco Joes was one of the first (possibly even the first - it was either them or El Sol) Mexican restaurants in the city and they still have a loyal following. A lot of people consider them an Indy institution and keep going just for the kitsch factor.
Also, they are basically they only Mexican place downtown, so if you need a quick fix (which many dt office workers do) thats the place to go.
Personally, the place horrifies me. Watered town tomato paste out of a squirt bottle for salsa?
As for the space, a Cheesecake Factory would never work, that space is entirely too small for even a limited version of it. I like the idea of CPK giving it another go, their original location in Circle Center (mixed in with the food court, i believe) was a weird spot to start with. They would have fared much better in a less chaotic space, without being surrounded by all those nasty fast food/food court options.
On a side note, Cory, any word on the Fogo de Chao propsed for dowtown?
Helen above me is not who I am. I am changing my username. Those who read my posts will easiely know who I am.
I'll have to take your word for it but I've been to Mexico four times and never encountered anything like you've described.
