Several interesting nuggets to report this week:

  • A first-time restaurateur is planning to open a bar and lounge on the first floor of the new 3Mass building downtown. Owner Trevor Belden, a partner at Baker & Daniels, said he's developing a "low-key, comfortable place to grab a drink and a bite and listen to music." He hasn't settled on a name yet. It will feature comfortable chairs but no TVs. The 70-seat establishment, set to open in March, is taking one of three first-floor tenant spaces for 3Mass.
  • Hot Box Pizza plans to open a downtown location in the Harness Factory Lofts building. The locally based pizza chain filed plans to take 1,400 square feet in the building at 30 E. Georgia St. Nearby locations include the IUPUI campus and in Broad Ripple.
  • WineTyme, a new local shop selling wines, craft beers and gourmet food, is coming to Fishers. Managing partner Jonathan Sadler plans to open in a 1,700-square-foot building along Olio Road just north of 116th Street.
  • Tony Sacco's Coal Oven Pizza, a Florida favorite, is coming to the Indianapolis area. Local franchisee Pizza Revolution Inc. has filed plans to open the first of two area locations in Carmel's Clay Terrace, near Kona Grill.
  • KeyBank has filed plans to build a new branch to replace a vacant building at the intersection of East 10th Street and Euclid Avenue. The 2,400-square-foot branch will be built across the street from the Linwood Square Shopping Center.
  • Imbibe, a new watering hole in Fountain Square, opened this month on the first floor of the Fountain Square Theatre Building between Shelbi Street Cafe & Bistro and the Smokehouse on Shelby. It will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays and offer an appetizer and late-night menu.
  • Definitions for Her, a homegrown boutique that sells athletic women's appearel, is closing its location in Carmel. "Unfortunately we just have not experienced the traffic we need to stay open," owner Chris Campbell said in an e-mail to customers. A second location, in Nora Plaza, will remain open.
  • Delaware & Ohio
So, I was walking to Indiana Members Credit Union downtown and as I turned on to Delaware on the corner used to be a Quizno's. Just one story commercial front. I haven't been by there recently and WOW. There looks to be a grocery or convienent store of some type that has really expanded past the walls of Quiznos and has even created a central staircase to go into the basement for more shopping. The permits say Crown Property Management II, and one of the papers says Crown Liquors.

It looks too big to just be a typical liquor store, so maybe it will also have groceries in it. Anyone have more information on this property? It's real nice and Urban looking.

    • New Crown Liquor
Yeah, that's the new flagship Crown Liquor going in downtown. Some pictures of the interior build are up on flickr:
    • Very Cool
      Thanks for posting!
    • Crown Liquors
Its an (upscale?) liquor store with a wine tasting bar in the basement.
    • WOW
That store is going to be AWESOME! Should be a nice addition to that part of downtown....
    • Cool.
Thanks for the post, but those do not do the place justice now. They have all the refrigeration coolers in and all the lights and paneling up. It looks real good. Caught me by surprise.
    • Crown & HotBox
The new Crown is scheduled to open next week. I am very excited.

Regarding the new HotBox, it is my understanding that this location will replace their IUPUI location.
    • Crown Liquor
I know the folks at Wheeler Mission aren't too thrilled about having a liquor store less than a block away, but, well, you can't have everything.
    • Einstein Bagel
I thought Einstein Bagel was going in at the corner where the liquor store is going to be or at least in that vicinity.
    • Crown Liquor did THAT?
Thanks to MikeW for the heads up and to CorrND for the link with photos. My office used to be above that space years ago. Can't wait to see it now. Do we know who the architect is? They need some props for the creative design.
    • Crown Wine & Spirits
I must say I find it quite interesting the location given that the Wheeler Mission is less than a block away. I was hoping we were getting another little restaurant. Ah least there is some development happening, which I guess is a good thing.
    • Houlihan's
Houlihan's downtown closed and has a sign that says Buffalo Wild Wings coming soon.
Did they not just build a new location on Washington Street or is the Maryland street location going to be a second location. It seems might close to the other location if so.
    • Buffalo Wings
Crystal - If I had to guess, I bet it was Buffalo Wings & Rings (out of Cincy) instead of BW's. Someone posted on here a while ago that they were expanding into Indy.
    • Wings
PatM you are correct it is Wings and Rings that is coming to downtown.
It is too bad about Houlihan's though since they had revamped the stores elsewhere I thought the downtown location would make it.
The Land Rover Bumper vehicles never did give names to their cars, instead consistently using letters and numbers to designate the coupes, sedans and the SUVs. • Vito's on Pennsylvania
Just saw the "For Lease" signage on the windows at Vito's on Pennsylvania location.
      When did it close?
