The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's summer season has been announced, with the ISO itself performing during the first five weeks and guest artists taking over for the rest of the schedule.

ISO concerts include "Rhapsody in Blue" and other American work for the June 20-21 weekend. Music from the Eagles and Led Zeppelin on separate programs June 27-28, three days of "Star Spangled Symphony" on and around the 4th of July, a bit of classical July 11-12 with Beethoven's 7th (and Time for Three), and a pops program, Classic FM, rounding out the lineup.

Non-ISO programs under the Symphony on the Prairie banner include tribute concerts of music by The Beatles, John Denver, and ABBA along with the actual Glenn Miller Orchestra, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and The Beach Boys. Also in the schedule, The Hit Men. Translation: Former members of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

Meanwhile, Actors Theatre of Indiana, the Equity theater company in residence at the Center for the Performing Arts has let supporters know its plans for 2014/15. It's schedule will include "My Fair Lady," the variety show spoof "Pete 'n' Keely," the Hitchcock mash-up "The 39 Steps" (seen a few seasons back at both the IRT and Cardinal Stage), and the long-awaited (well, by me) local premiere of the musical "Xanadu."
