You-review-it Monday: Rev Indy and more

For me, the weekend included the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's concert version of "Anything Goes" (see review here) and the Methodist Health Foundation Rev Indy benefit at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Rev event featured chefs from restaurants and food providers from around the region (highlights among the highlights: Mesh on Mass' Pork Belly with Guajillo Pepper Pulled Pork etc., Brad Gates Caterings' Charred Steelhead Trout over Roast Sweet Potato Puree, and Ritz Charles' Chorizo Black Been Roasted Corn Slider). IRL drivers were paired with booths and, while not anchored to them for long, the likes of Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, and Takuma Sato did spent time socializing with the crowd. Rev Indy also offered singer/songwriter/pianist Jon McLaughlin, valiantly playing a solid set, undaunted by the lack of applause from folks with drinks and food plates in their hands. Impressive.

I also caught the Showtime documentary "Broadway Idiot" about the development of the musical "American Idiot." As someone who appreciated the show (and thought it should have won the Tony for Best Musical over "Memphis"), I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look, well aware that, like many such docs, it avoided showing confrontation. It did make me hungry to see the show again. Here's my review from the tour's 2013 stop at Clowes Hall.

And you? What did you see or do on the A&E front over the weekend?
