Roundup: Graeter's coming; Currito closes mall location

Graeters_ice_cream_logo_225pxGraeter’s, the historic Cincinnati-based ice cream shop, is coming to Indianapolis, franchisee Jim Tedesco, who operates several Graeter's stores in Louisville and southern Indiana, told IBJ. Tedesco declined to divulge the location until a lease is finalized.

Sub Zero Ice Cream & Yogurt, an Orem, Utah-based franchise, is opening its first Indianapolis store, at 427 Massachusetts Ave.

Ruth's Chris Steak House will move from its current north-side location near Keystone Avenue and East 96th Street to the new Ironworks development on the southwest corner of 86th Street and Keystone. The steakhouse will ocupy 16,500 square feet at the $30 million mixed-use development slated to open in May 2014.

• A Thai restaurant is taking the space at 150 E. Ohio St. formerly occupied by Charlie & Barney’s. Details are sketchy: A sign on the door says the restaurant will open in the summer, and an alcohol permit in the window lists the owner as Thai Kitchen Restaurant LLC. Charlie & Barney’s closed in March.

Yats is moving into larger space—2,453 square feet—within the Trail Side building at 875 Massachusetts Ave., up the street from its current location at 659 Mass Ave.  The local Cajun-Creole chain plans to sell beer and wine at the new restaurant, which should be open by July 1.

Yogulatte is set to open a yogurt shop in June at 5412 N. College Ave. next to Fat Dan’s Deli. It has existing locations at 755 Massachusetts Ave. and 1032 Main St. in Speedway.

Orange Leaf has opened at the Metropolis outdoor mall in Plainfield.

Happy’s Pizza has opened its first location in Indianapolis, at 3820 N. College Ave. The Farmington Hills, Mich.-based chain has about 60 locations in six states.

City Barbeque is set to open a restaurant May 9 in 3,648 square feet of space at 1356 S. Rangeline Road in Carmel and another in 5,010 square feet of space at 621 W. 11th St. in Indianapolis in July. The Dublin, Ohio-based chain has 22 restaurants in Ohio and Indiana, including locations in Avon and Greenwood.

Currito has closed within the food court at Circle Centre Mall. Parent company Nicar Enterprises Inc. of Hamilton, Ohio, owes $23,581 in back rent, according to a lawsuit filed in February by Circle Centre Mall LLC.
