The CEO of Indianapolis-based Heritage Construction and Materials will soon have a voice in shaping federal transportation
policy.
Charles F. Potts will serve as 2009 chairman of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association and will "lead
the
charge to reform, restructure, refocus and refinance" the federal surface transportation programs next year when Congress
debates the next multi-year highway/transit bill, said the Washington, D.C.-based association.
Heritage Construction and Materials and other companies are hoping for a big boost in federal highway spending, including
the construction of truck-only lanes along interstate highways.
Such corridors are being studied by several states, including the Indiana Department of Transportation, to take the load off
truck-clogged Interstate 70.
Heritage has offices in several states and in China.
