Indianapolis Business Journal

About This Section

Welcome to IBJ’s Executive Health Series 2014: Cancer Care. This promotional supplement examines innovations and advancements in the field of cancer care. IBJ is committed to providing useful information on specialty areas within health care that can improve the lives of our readers. Topic areas we will cover later this year include healthy aging and cardiac care.

Progress continues to be made with advancements in cancer care, but there’s always an eye toward achieving better results more quickly. There’s cause for optimism, but everyone on the frontline understands there’s much work that needs to be done. Fortunately, world class doctors, support staff and facilities are located right here in Central Indiana. This affords Indy area residents some of the best and most advanced cancer care in the country.

In this issue of Cancer Care, topics include advances in treatment of multiple myeloma, advances in determining whether pancreatic cysts are likely to become cancerous, and a better way to administer radiation to certain breast cancer patients. Additionally, you’ll find an article about a rise in cancers of the oropharynx (tonsils, tongue base and walls of throat), and less intrusive ways of detecting and treating lung cancer. You can also read about and see art generated by participants in St.Vincent’s Live Forward program, which gives cancer patients and their caregivers access to an open art studio and art classes.

So please give this publication a good read now. Pull it out, save it and refer to the information later. Our hope is this new supplement will help educate and inform our readers about the latest advances in the treatment, management and prevention of cancer. Be well and thanks for reading IBJ.
