Here are two opportunities to take an early look at "District 9," the acclaimed new science fiction film about alien refugees
on Earth. (More details on the film here, but isn't it a lot more fun going in
without knowing much about it?)
I've got passes to a Thursday, Aug. 13 sneak preview at Kerasotes Showplace 16, 4325 S. Meridian St. Showtime is 7:30.
I also have a more limited number of passes to a midnight screening that evening good at Circle Centre, UA Galaxy, or UA Village Park. (I'll be at this one, making a downtown double feature with our IBJ movie night screening of "Serenity.")
Want to go?
Just drop a response here, indicating which tickets you would prefer. It's okay to say "either."
Also, while here, let us know your favorite alien species, whether from a book, movie, TV show or wherever. I'll pull winners at random until the passes are gone.
Good luck.

Favorite alien? ET, of course... :0)

Count me in for either! I have to say my favorite aliens were the martians from War of the Worlds (the remake).
Tim
My favroite alien species is a dead heat between the Kilrathi of Wing Commander(even though the movie was terrible I enjoyed it) and the Covenant from the Halo universe. Two very well developed alien races in terms of history, backstory, religon, societal issues, etc.
I think my favorite aliens are the 3 eyed alien toys in Toy Story.
I would prefer the 7:30 PM screening.
Thanks for providing these opportunities Lou!
Jabba the Hutt is about the coolest alien I can think of.
I'd love to see District 9 at UA Galaxy 14 with my 16 year old son.
thanks for the opportunity!
My favorite alien has got to be Marvin the Martian, from the old Bugs Bunny cartoons. Well, the funniest one, anyway.
As for alien specied, I have to go with Vulcans. To choose another would be highly illogical, and give me no excuse for typing highly illogical.
I have to say Predator is probably the best alien ever.
And... skrulls it is.
The Adipose from Doctor Who!
My favorite alien is most definitely E.T....having spent my childhood in a small town with a one screen movie theater, it wasn't unheard of for a movie to stay in town for 3 weeks or more. E.T. was especially long running and I think I saw it no less than 6 times AT the theater...many more on VHS, DVD and tv!
And two tickets for the 7:30 show would be great, if any are left.
I like the aliens from Independance Day.
Ya know, I don't know if I could say all-time fave aliens, but the ones that popped into my head are the aliens from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, just because it's one of my all-time favorite movies, and The Brother from Another Planet.
many times I've seen it in the theater. I was amazed how much I still enjoy
seeing it on the big screen.
District 9 was impressive. It gets a bit gruesome and icky. Much to think about
related to how we treat others, w/ obvious allusions to apartheid and the
holocaust, all wrapped up with heart-pounding action that picks up towards
the middle of the movie. Fantastic special effects.
