Job loss, in excruciating motion

If youâ??re curious how the recession has washed across the nation, itâ??s worth looking at an animated map posted at Slate.com. The map shows job gains and losses since January 2007 in detail as fine as the county level.

Indiana, particularly Indianapolis, starts out blue enough (job gains) and morphs to look like a bright red nuclear zone of losses.

Indiana, of course, isnâ??t the only bombed-out place. You can watch the reddening of the rest of the Rust Belt along with New England, much of Appalachia, Southern California and the San Francisco Bay area.

Check it out and share your thoughts.
