Five people were injured—one seriously—in a two-vehicle accident on the northeast side Monday. Emergency crews
had to free two people trapped by the crash, which happened just before 9 p.m. at North Dequincy Street and Kessler Boulevard.
Quindell Johnson, 21, was listed in serious condition, while four others were in stable condition.
A family of eight was forced from an Indianapolis home by a fire early Wednesday. A renter and seven minors escaped the blaze
in the 1800 block of Dexter Street near West 16th and Harding streets. Damage was estimated at $25,000.
Two Lebanon residents were hospitalized early Wednesday following a suspicious house fire that might have stemmed from a
domestic dispute. Shawn Lambert, 45, was rescued from the home in the 500 block of East Noble Street at about 1 a.m. and taken
to a hospital in critical condition. His wife, Dorothy Lambert, 58, was found outside the home. Their dog died in the fire.
Police had been called to the house for a domestic disturbance a couple of hours before the fire.
Indianapolis police are investigating multiple business burglaries that took place Monday morning in an office building at
the northwest corner of East 86th Street and Allisonville Road. Intruders broke into at least 11 business suites and stole
computers and other equipment.
Firefighters remain at the scene of a smoldering blaze at a 440,000-square-foot recycling warehouse in Indianapolis, two
days after the fire created huge plumes of black smoke that could be seen for miles. The fire broke out at 1 p.m. Saturday
on Belmont Avenue and Oliver Street. Tires, wood pallets and shingles burned, and at least 30 propane tanks exploded. Firefighters
are trying to determine a cause. Damages could be in the millions of dollars.
Indianapolis police have detained two people after a man was shot to death at about 3 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of the
Pure Passion West nightclub at West 38th Street and Lafayette Road. Police said it appears the shooting stemmed from a disturbance,
and the victim was shot from a passing vehicle. Witnesses said they saw two people leaving the scene in an SUV.
Emergency crews were dispatched to Lawrence Apostolic Church, 6202 Sunnyside Road, at 6:35 a.m. Thursday after receiving
reports of smoke filling the building. Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 7 a.m. Authorities said there were children
in the church’s daycare at the time, but that everyone exited safely with no injuries.
A man was taken into custody Thursday morning following a SWAT incident at an east-side residence. Officers were dispatched
to the 800 block of LaSalle Street at approximately 7:40 a.m. to serve an open warrant for theft and resisting law enforcement.
Police said the man barricaded himself in the house and refused to comply with officers’ commands. He was detailed at
8:40 a.m.
Police say a man walking along Interstate 65 near Whiteland was struck and killed Wednesday night, causing closure of northbound
sections of the highway for two hours. The man was hit north of the Tracy Road/County Road 600 North overpass about 10 miles
south of Indianapolis. Authorities have released no details about the man and why he was on the highway.
State Bureau of Motor Vehicle branches will be closed Saturday so the Indiana Office of Technology staff can complete a major
maintenance project on the state’s computer system. The myBMV.com website also will be down Saturday after 6 a.m. Branches
will resume normal hours next week. The Department of Natural Resources said the work will prevent sales of hunting and fishing
licenses Saturday.
Indiana State Excise Police officers arrested 30 people on 35 charges Sunday night during the Zac Brown Band concert at Klipsch
Music Center in Noblesville. Most of the arrests were for underage drinking. Last month at Klipsch, police arrested 54 people
at a Brad Paisley show, 64 at a May Day music event, and 52 at a Tim McGraw concert.
Two men robbed an Indianapolis woman of her car early Sunday morning after she arrived home from doing laundry. Claudia Edwards
said she had just parked her 2003 Honda Accord at Port of Call Apartments, north of Rockville Road and east of Interstate
465, at about 12:30 a.m. when the men ran up to the car. She said one man put a gun to her head and demanded the keys, while
the other held on to her 7-year-old daughter. Police are still searching for the vehicle.

I remenber, watching the toll road, being built, through South Bend, when I was 10 years old. I believe, back then that it was estimated, that the toll road, would be paid for in 20 years and then it would be free. I am now 71, what happened? Since the power is in the people, by that, I mean that, we the people are in total control of everything. I, suggest that no one ever use the toll road again, let it go broke. We the people can control the price of everything, from groceries to gas, if we would just do it. If we don't pay the asking price, the sellers will lower the price and if we wait awhile, they will lower the price to what we accept as reasonable. I would like to know why a highway like interstate 94, is so well maintained, a much better highway, than the toll road, but has no tolls. I would also like to know why, a sitting governor, with a term limit, maximum of eight years, can lease, public property, for 75 years. Even though I have transponders in both of my trucks and will not be affected by the increase, I have been and will contine to avoid using the toll road. I make many trips from northern Indiana to Chicago, every year, and I prefer the better highway, I94!
