HealthNet Inc. CEO Booker Thomas has announced plans to retire in July 2012. Thomas, 69, has led HealthNet’s
chain of community health centers since 1999. During his tenure, the not-for-profit has grown from five locations and an annual
budget of $13 million to nine neighborhood clinics, nine school-based clinics and a budget of $45 million. The number of patients
served has more than doubled to 50,000 a year. HealthNet has formed a committee to search for a replacement for Thomas.
