  1. The state constitution also does not say that the majority has a right to quorum, nor that the minority is required to allow them quorum. In fact, denial of quorum has been a parliamentary maneuver since the establishment of the first parliaments in the early 1600s. The right to deny quorum (and the requirement fore quorum) are to prevent exactly what happened in Indiana: A tyrannical majority pushing through odious, objectionable legislation. Denial of quorum is totally legitimate, and lest we forget, a tactic the GOP has employed many, many times to ensure their issues weren't given short shrift. By allowing the majority to impose "fines" on the minority for exercising the authority the constitution grants them (to deny quorum,) they are violating the constitution.

  2. Hard for NR to shake their image from the past decade of closed and dirty restaurants, shared quarters with Subways and gas stations, and now the grocery store take'n bake concept. (Take 'n bake franchises also don't have to charge/report sales tax, as the food is not "prepared" by cooking, but sold as staples/produce.) Give my the ORIGINAL deep dish Sicilian and old Bambino recipe!!!

  3. You are correct, not 100% of people on assistance stay on it. I have been dealing with low income families for the past 12 years, from my crude recollection and basic daily interactions, I have seen a small percentage utilize the system the way it was likely intended. They took the assistance, used that time to develop their lives, then moved off of it once they could stand on their own. The majority of families I have worked with however have done the opposite. There is no incentive for them to progress. If you get a job, your housing voucher is cut, if you live with someone who gets a job, your vouchers are cut. If you stop receiving assistance, you have to pay for your own phone service, etc., etc. The system is setup to encourage those on assistance to stay stagnant, for fear of losing the payday, while albeit small, it is still free. The only real incentive is self motivation and a self desire to better yourself, otherwise, why go out and get a job, when you can suck on the government teet from the comfort of your free apartment.

  4. two words: Carbon Motors. If you goggle this new company coming from South Carolina, you may not get the warm and fuzzies!! He was given $200 grand in October of '11 to stay there, where is the money, where is the company? He just recently created a FB page, LinkIN page and has no website. Is Muncie going to get scammed like Connersville did?! I found this info in 5 minutes! Who is doing the checking in Delaware County? Will this be another Brevini, promise hundreds of jobs, create a few?

  5. Indiana is a laughingstock in this country for our backwards, homophobic, and outright racist state laws, policies, and attitudes. Honestly: How in the world is the Mayor supposed to attract high-paying/high-education jobs to our state to build our economy when this sort of nonsense is what comes up when you google Indiana news? You idiots have set this state back twenty years: Every decision maker in every company that might be worth attracting to our state knows somebody who is gay in their family, has a critical employee who is gay, or may be gay themselves: Do you think they're going to bring the benefit of their enterprise to this redneck state when the community will, seemingly, greet them with pitchforks and torches and cries of "Homo Go Home!"
