Got tickets to the third week of "Jersey Boys" performances at the Murat? Well, bad news: There isn't going to be a third week.

The national tour of the Broadway hit, returning to Indy in January, has lopped a week off of its planned Jan. 9-27 run here. Now it will be exiting on the 20th "due to tour scheduling," according to Broadway in Indianapolis Director of Public Relations Matthew Porter.

Those with tickets for Jan. 22-27should revisit their point of purchase to try to reschedule. If not, there will be refunds.

If you find yourself with a suddenly open weekend and still have a desire for musical theater, keep in mind that  "A Little Night Music" opens at the Indiana Repertory Theatre on the 22nd.

  • "Night Music" is a great idea.
Although poles apart from "Jersey Boys", Sondheim's "A Little Night Music" is one of his best. The songs are mesmerizing and includes the iconic "Send in the Clowns." I always thought that was an odd song until I saw how it makes perfect sense in the play. The action and dialog can be really clever and funny at times. The show was recently done in NYC with Angela Lansbury and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the cast. Here in Indy we'll be treated to the great Sylvia McNair - 4 time Grammy Nominee and 2-time winner! Don't miss it.
  • Get Outta Here!
I think it's sad that a national touring Broadway show has to shorten it's tour in Indy for obviously lack of ticket sales. I saw this show in Louisville almost two years ago - and it was amazing. I was planning on attending a show here, too. However, with the economy, lack of discretionary income, the holidays - it doesn't surprise me - just sad.
