How far does Indiana-based author John Green's influence reach? Hot on the heels of being named an IBJ 40 Under 40, he's landed on Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Such lists are, of course, silly: Is actress Amy Adams really more influential then Joe Biden?

Okay, maybe. But you get my point.

But while some world leaders may challenge that assessment, there's no question that Green's stock continues to rise via his smart and sensitive tapping into young readers who grew up as part of the social network.

If only Time had asked someone besides actress Shailene Woodley, who appears in the upcoming film version of Green's "The Fault in Our Stars" to make a case for his inclusion.
