More on Michael Feinstein's plate

It looks like Michael Feinstein, the high-profile Artistic Director of the Carmel Performing Arts Center, will have a busy 2010.

His show "All About Me" will be opening on Broadway in March. It's his first Broadway bow since 1990's "Michael Feinstein in Concert: Piano and Voice." More on the show from Playbill.com.

Feinstein also owns his own NYC club, Feinstein's at Loew's Regency and, according to his website, will be serving as Director of the Popular Song Series for Live at Lincoln Center.

And that's not all. He's also now working on a proposed Broadway musical version of "The Thomas Crown Affair." Plus he's prepping a globe-trotting PBS TV series, "Michael Feinstein: Man on a Mission."

The question, of course, is: How much time will he have for Carmel?

  • Nice Work if you Can Get it
He'll find time to pick up his check and Carmel gets what it deserves...
  • Indeed
    well said Tom.
  • Goes without saying
Lou asked, "How much time will he have for Carmel?"

That was obviously a rhetorical question.
  • Wow
Carmel's paying a lot for the name. They probably know they aren't getting much work out of him, but the ability to list him on the staff will help raise $$ and support. Maybe that's all they want out of the investment.
  • Are you clueless?
This article is absurd. Michael Feinstein's purpose as Artistic Directior of the Regional Performing Arts Center is to lend his support (and name) in lining up talent. That does not mean HE is going to perform her every day. His name lends the credibility to help secure big names.
    • The tragedy that is about to be the CPAC
MIchael Feinstein is a wonderful performer. No one can or should take that away from him. That being said, nothing in his experience has prepared him to run a performing arts center. Sorry, Karen, you missed the point of the question. The idea of the CPAC was a good one, but too many wrong decisions have already been made. I hope I'm wrong, but this is a disaster in the making.
    • Lend his name?
I don't think Feinstein is "lending" anything. He's being paid far more than any other artistic director in Central Indiana right now. Whether it turns out that his "Direction" is worth the price paid for the service remains to be seen. I hope for the best.

    1. If you consider the distance to greenwood park mall from this loaction there are a number of new restraunts that have opened in the area- Fireside, Sammy's Pizza, DaDa's Pizza all close to the mall area and going north west, but still closer than greenwood park mall- poloclub steakhouse, bert and den's, The AllAmerican Clubhouse Sports Bar and Grill, just to name a few off the top of my head. Independents, that fit a niche for what they do. Just wanted all the facts out there.

    2. Hope F1 holds off on coming back til refueling ban is lifted. People ,no matter what the national stripe, like some form of competition in their racing. Love the "G" of F1 but this weekends race needed some "racing". One car behind another for 49 laps is not time or money well spent. Maybe F1 will do a NASCAR and make a mid season change. You bring that product to the US market and good luck. Indy is not world class but what road race Mecca are you gonna find at Uncle Sam's. Daytona??!! Unless NYC has plans for a Monza on the Island, Indy will have to do for now. My F1 monkey needs his fix and I dont care where I get it.

    3. I remember watching Bart Conner as a kid.

    4. Don't forget Bayh passing the "beer baron" law that allowed these exclusive distribution deals.

This was before all of the countries major beer producers were foreign owned.

      Time to repeal the law.

    5. That development is called "McFarland Farms" and it's an early 90s three bedroom single home community. But it has 4 or 5 hotels and a nice apartment complex within a stones throw from this location. This place would do very good business with proximity to the hotels and the Southport Rd. I-65 exit.

Still not my kind of place to hang out, but I think the local church is gonna have to eat it on this one.
