More on Michael Feinstein's plate

It looks like Michael Feinstein, the high-profile Artistic Director of the Carmel Performing Arts Center, will have a busy 2010.

His show "All About Me" will be opening on Broadway in March. It's his first Broadway bow since 1990's "Michael Feinstein in Concert: Piano and Voice." More on the show from Playbill.com.

Feinstein also owns his own NYC club, Feinstein's at Loew's Regency and, according to his website, will be serving as Director of the Popular Song Series for Live at Lincoln Center.

And that's not all. He's also now working on a proposed Broadway musical version of "The Thomas Crown Affair." Plus he's prepping a globe-trotting PBS TV series, "Michael Feinstein: Man on a Mission."

The question, of course, is: How much time will he have for Carmel?

  • Nice Work if you Can Get it
He'll find time to pick up his check and Carmel gets what it deserves...
  • Indeed
    well said Tom.
  • Goes without saying
Lou asked, "How much time will he have for Carmel?"

That was obviously a rhetorical question.
  • Wow
Carmel's paying a lot for the name. They probably know they aren't getting much work out of him, but the ability to list him on the staff will help raise $$ and support. Maybe that's all they want out of the investment.
  • Are you clueless?
This article is absurd. Michael Feinstein's purpose as Artistic Directior of the Regional Performing Arts Center is to lend his support (and name) in lining up talent. That does not mean HE is going to perform her every day. His name lends the credibility to help secure big names.
    • The tragedy that is about to be the CPAC
MIchael Feinstein is a wonderful performer. No one can or should take that away from him. That being said, nothing in his experience has prepared him to run a performing arts center. Sorry, Karen, you missed the point of the question. The idea of the CPAC was a good one, but too many wrong decisions have already been made. I hope I'm wrong, but this is a disaster in the making.
    • Lend his name?
I don't think Feinstein is "lending" anything. He's being paid far more than any other artistic director in Central Indiana right now. Whether it turns out that his "Direction" is worth the price paid for the service remains to be seen. I hope for the best.
