The tour of the Broadway hit "Mary Poppins" will kick off the 2010/2011 Broadway in Indianapolis series, according to an announcement made today.

Other shows on the schedule include a new tour of "Dreamgirls," yet another run for "Grease," the play-it-loud "Rock of Ages," and the you-saw-the-movie-now-here's-the-musical "9-to-5."

The smash hit "Wicked" will be returning to Indianapolis for most of the month of December.

Other specials have yet to be announced. I'm still hoping for "Spring Awakening."

Your thoughts on the season?

  • Shows
I cannot wait to see them all!! Thank you so much for the update and keeping us posted on when these shows will be in town!
  • Wicked
Where is Wicked going to be held?
  • Wicked will be at Clowes
Looking forward to all the shows but wish like you Lou for Spring Awakeing!
  • Rock of Ages
So excited to hear that Rock of Ages is coming! Saw it in NYC last fall and loved it.
  • Pop
Very excited about Mary Poppins-we were going to drive to Cinci to see it but I am glad we will be getting it here.
  • Spring Awakening?
I saw a news item about the Spring Awakening tour and checked their tour website a week or two ago. There's no planned stop here although the line did pass through Indiana twice for what that's worth. Of course, Columbus OH and Louisville made the schedule. Is the problem that the Broadway in Indianapolis group is not locally based anymore or did Indianapolis stop supporting touring shows leading to the last 10 years or so of drought. I mean, we finally get Jersey Boys - four years after it won the Tony?
    • Great line-up
Of course Wicked is awesome, but I saw both Mary Poppins and 9-to-5 in NYC and loved them both. Fun fun shows... eager to see them again.
    • Wicked at Murat
Wicked will be at the Murat... not Clowes.
    • Broadway
I'm glad that there are people excited by this. Personally, none of these shows have any appeal to me whatsoever.

      Lou - I think it's the 2010/2011 Season.
    • 2010/2011 Season
Keep in mind that routing of a show has so many variables that not all shows can make it to a given market. The Murat or Clowes might be booked when Spring Awakening was free. I think this season is a good one and plays to all demographics. I'm excited to renew my tickets! If you're not a ticket holder, become one and help build the theatre base. Maybe that way, we can jump ahead of Louisville or Columbus when shows start touring! Also- they still have a local office on Mass Ave if you need anything.
    • Mary Poppins
The touring production of Mary Poppins is a huge surprise for Indy's Bway season next year - arriving perhaps 2 years sooner than a production of this type generally would ( (Truth be told, it's not been a runaway success on the road... that may have helped the earlier arrivel - but who's counting?) This is a giant, first-class tour which sat down for 4 months in Chicago starting just a year ago - and then started nat'l tour here in Cleveland last July with original Bway leads.... In my mind the most eye-popping tour I've seen in 30 years of theater-going - and its redesigned set, for easier touring, actually works better than in NYC. Mary even flies from the stage and then feet above the audience into the balcony during the finale, just as on Bway. Magical. Feel lucky Poppins is in your future... Rock of Ages and 9 to 5 are on their first season of touring, too... - though the big new tours for next year - Billy Elliot, Shrek and perhaps West Side Story - let alone this year's In the Heights, Young Frankenstein, etc.... are not on the schedule - and probably won't be for some time. Still - pretty Ok season.
    • Local Christmas
Rumor had it that Lion King at the Holidays '08 was damaging to local Holiday shows. Hope local audiences will consider that when Wicked returns this year!
    • Broadway
When is Bailey Hanks playing Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray.

Evil prospers when good men do nothing .

    2. I went this evening and the great thing about the zipline is each rider is a performer. Those that hang upside down the entire ride get huge cheers. And the sound of the ride is way cool. Multiple riders all doing acrobatic stunts is spectacular. It should be called the Warhol ride. Add in the ability to score via phones and you have the Olympics. (the zoo ought to do one of these over the river)

    3. Actually, completely bypassing Bloomington isn't a bad idea - since I-69 is going to need an offset to get around Martinsville, anyway, just start earlier. No Exit for SR 46, though. None whatsoever. And downgrade SR 37 south of Martinsville to secondary status... and just listen to the howls from all the IU fans and alumni when their (weekly) pilgrimages take twice as long. Well, OK, an exit at Gosport... SR 39 north of Martinsville (not south), Gosport (US231), Bloomfield, Loogootee, Jasper....

    4. Yup, the best Congress money can buy.

    5. Pink cadillac gotta be the one
