As you no doubt know, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” is a song from the hit movie-turned-stage-musical “Mary Poppins.”
But it’s not the only word that can make you sound precocious.
Write in your favorite word over eight letters long and you could be the winner of this week’s ticket giveaway: A pair of tickets to the Sept. 23 performance of “Mary Poppins” at the Murat Theatre.
Just enter, below. I'll pick one winner at random.
Good luck.

HILARIOUS
I learned it in graduate school. It's a real word and has something to do with linear regression analysis - I can't remember the details. But don't I sound smart when I say it? :-)
As in "Isn't it a wonderful day!"
How else could enjoy Mary Poppins??? The cast sings this way every show I've read, so I would love to hear them in person!!
It actually appears in the urban dictionary...Not sure if its just a southern word, but my boyfriend said he had never heard the word before...lol
The names of my three beautiful granddaughters rolled into one.
The Hoosier version of confused.
One of my children's favorites too.
The common vernacular for this common condition (â??brain-freezeâ??) is well-known. Who would have thought thereâ??s an obscure medical term for the same thing?
It's one of my pet peeves. When a person complains about something just so they have the chance to brag about it. "ugh...my wallet is so full of money that it won't fit in my pocket"
Pollyannish
So nice, I just said it twice.
I heard a very nice lady use the word when I was very young and I went home right away and looked it up. I don't hear it used very often.
Growing up, a friend of our family owned a horse with that name. Though it never competed, people associated the name with racing. I always thought it was a cool name.

I REALLY REALLY WANT TO SEE MARY POPPINS!!!
A word invented by a friend.
Only because I feel like I have it...
Disingenuous
I think one of the first long words that most kids learn how to spell and enjoy spelling because of the multiple double letters!!!
I'm also a big fan of perfunctory
uses the vowels in alphabetical order
