would love to attend the show ... A fan of Paula's southern style.

    Grape Salad
4-5 pounds seedless grapes (I use a variety for color, texture & sweetness)
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (can use low fat)
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream (can use low fat)
1/2 cup white sugar (I use granulated Splenda)
     1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ounces chopped pecans (1 cup)
ââ?¬Â¢ 2 tablespoons to 1 cup brown sugar (I use light, granulated if you can find it ââ?¬â?? works best)(can also substitute Splendaââ?¬â?¢s brown sugar)
    1. Wash and dry grapes.
    2. In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese (bring to room temperature for easy mixing), sour cream, sugar and vanilla.
    3. Add grapes and mix until evenly incorporated. Sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans and refrigerate until serving.
This is a recipe that is easily adapted based on grapes and diet needs. I have also cut the ingredients in half and used a combination of berries, if you prefer berries over grapes.adjust sugars to sweetness of the berries.

  • Would make my wife very happy
My wife is a very good cook and that makes me quite lucky. She loves Paula Deen and watches her show at work when she is not doing hair. To win the tickets would make her year as she has been sick for five years and just now is getting better.
My very simple recipe for a nearly perfect grilled cheese is as follows:

Two chilled pieces of whole wheat or gluten free bread
Butter also chilled because melted ccoks too fast
Two pieces of Muenster cheese with two 1/8" slabs of butter on each outer side.
Use no oil or the sandwich gets too soggy.
Medium heat and turn frequently until it looks just past golden brown.

Cheese should be just melted enough to bond the bread together.
  • #1 FAN
Butter makes anything taste better! Right Paula?
  • Add ...
Just add a pound of butter to anything!!!

Drain sauerkraut, mix with cream cheese and Swiss cheese. Add diced corned beef and Thousand Island dressing. Either microwave or heat on stove until cheeses are melted. Serve warm in a small crock pot. Serve with crackers or cocktail rye bread.

  • Easy Does It
    Fresh Tomato Salsa
â?¢ 2-3 medium sized fresh tomatoes (from 1 lb to 1 1/2 lb), stems removed, finely diced
â?¢ 1/2 red onion, finely diced
1 jalapeño chili pepper (stems, ribs, seeds removed), finely diced
â?¢ 1 serano chili pepper (stems, ribs, seeds removed), finely diced
    â?¢ Juice of one lime
    â?¢ 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
â?¢ Salt and pepper to taste
â?¢ Optional: oregano and or cumin to taste
1 Start with chopping up 2 medium sized fresh tomatoes. Prepare the chilies. Be very careful while handling these hot peppers. If you can, avoid touching them with your hands. Use a fork to cut up the chilies over a small plate, or use a paper towel to protect your hands. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and hot water after handling and avoid touching your eyes for several hours. Set aside some of the seeds from the peppers. If the salsa isn't hot enough, you can add a few for heat.
2 Combine all of the ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Taste. If the chilies make the salsa too hot, add some more chopped tomato. If not hot enough, carefully add a few of the seeds from the chilies, or add some ground cumin.

  • <3 PAULA!

Did you know that Hershey's now sells unwrapped kisses packaged for baking, so you don't have to unwrap all the little chocolates?

    Prep Time: 20 minutes

    Cook Time: 8 minutes

    Chilling time: 6 hours

Total Time: 6 hours, 28 minutes

    Yield: 48 cookies

8 oz. pkg. milk chocolate kisses
    1/2 cup butter, softened
    3/4 cup peanut butter
    1/3 cup sugar
    1/2 cup light brown sugar
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1-1/4 cups flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    more granulated sugar

Remove wrappers from chocolate. Beat butter and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add 1/3 cup sugar and brown sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture. Cover tightly and chill for 4-8 hours in fridge.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a chocolate piece into center of each cookie; cookie will crack slightly around edges. Let stand on cookie sheets for 3-4 minutes, then remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Makes about 48 cookies

To freeze, shape dough into balls but do not roll in sugar. Place on waxed paper lined cookie sheets and freeze until firm. Pack into hard sided freezer containers; label, and freeze up to 3 months. To bake, roll frozen dough into sugar, then bake as directed, adding 3-6 minutes to the baking time.

Note: the proportions and amounts of ingredients in this recipe are correct. Remember, tsp. stands for teaspoon, NOT tablespoon. That means a measuring teaspoon, not a coffee spoon, or a soup spoon.

She was a really a delight to chat with. We talked about a good recipe for pecan pie. I'm working on one with Grand Marnier and some chocolate (of course) mixed in. She recommended a layer or creme cheese. And I always use the dark Kahro syrup!

With the red and green garnish, it makes for a festive holiday dish! I do this to taste - sorry there are no quantities.

    Can of garbonzo beans
    garlic cloves
    lemon juice
    olive oil
pita bread triangles - fresh or season and back in oven until crisy

Drain and reserve garbonzo bean liquid. Rinse the beans in a bowl of water, rubbing between your hands to remove the skins.

Mash the beans - you can just use a potato masher.

Crush a couple garlic gloves to taste, and add in.

Add 3-4 tablespoons tahini, to taste.

Add juice of up to one whole lemon, to taste. Start slow!

    Salt and pepper to taste.

Mix everything up, using the reserved bean liquid to moisten, to desired consistency.

Top with a sprinkle of paprika, a drizzle of olive oil and chopped parsley.

    Scoop with pita chips!

  1. I never thought I'd see the day when a Republican Mayor would lead the charge in attempting to raise every tax we have to pay. Now it's income taxes and property taxes that Ballard wants to increase. And to pay for a pre-K program? Many studies have shown that pre-K offer no long-term educational benefits whatsoever. And Ballard is pitching it as a way of fighting crime? Who is he kidding? It's about government provided day care. It's a shame that we elected a Republican who has turned out to be a huge big spending, big taxing, big borrowing liberal Democrat.

  2. Why do we blame the unions? They did not create the 11 different school districts that are the root of the problem.

  3. I was just watching an AOW race from cleveland in 1997...in addition to the 65K for the race, there were more people in boats watching that race from the lake than were IndyCar fans watching the 2014 IndyCar season finale in the Fontana grandstands. Just sayin...That's some resurgence modern IndyCar has going. Almost profitable, nobody in the grandstands and TV ratings dropping 61% at some tracks in the series. Business model..."CRAZY" as said by a NASCAR track general manager. Yup, this thing is purring like a cat! Sponsors...send them your cash, pronto!!! LOL, not a chance.

  4. I'm sure Indiana is paradise for the wealthy and affluent, but what about the rest of us? Over the last 40 years, conservatives and the business elite have run this country (and state)into the ground. The pendulum will swing back as more moderate voters get tired of Reaganomics and regressive social policies. Add to that the wave of minority voters coming up in the next 10 to 15 years and things will get better. unfortunately we have to suffer through 10 more years of gerrymandered districts and dispropionate representation.

  5. Funny thing....rich people telling poor people how bad the other rich people are wanting to cut benefits/school etc and that they should vote for those rich people that just did it. Just saying..............
