It was a time for family. For good spirits. And maybe for a movie?

My random viewing included the film version of "Nicholas Nickleby" (why didn't anyone tell me how good this one is?), a clicked-on-it-and-couldn't-stop-watching viewing of the second half of "Kramer vs. Kramer," and a first-time look at one of my daughter's recent favorites, "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" (a marked contrast to Natalie Portman's "Black Swan" turn).

So what did you hear, see or do this weekend?

  • The King's Speech
Finally saw this long-awaited movie with great performances from Colin Firth, Geoffry Rush, and Helen Bonham-Carter. Wonderful costume design (where can I get those lovely suede gloves?)and set design very convincingly recreating 1920-1930s stmosphere. Very much worth the wait!
