Need a laugh? The randomly drawn winner this week will win four passes to opening night of the ComedySportz World Championship, coming to town July 18-23 (more info here.). The opening bout? Manchester UK vs. Indianapolis & Chicago vs. Milwaukee.

And that’s not all. One runner-up will win six passes to a regular weekly ComedySportz match.

    Hands down most talented are usually found on the current stages of Second City groups in Chicago (and Toronto and LA and...), but all time favorite must be the television show SCTV (Second City Television) from the early 1980s. John Candy, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Catherine O'Hara, Joe Flahrety... comic gold from the mythical tv station in Melonville.

    Such great characters, skits and humor came from that show. Johnny LaRue, Bob and Doug McKenzie, Dr. Tongue's House of 3D, Bobby Bittman, Ted and Edna Boil, Count Floyd's Terror Theater... the laughs were golden!

    The Monty Python crew gets my vote! Some of the funniest skits ever - dead parrot, lumberjack, she turned me into a newt, totally non-politically correct but great music, and silliness.

    My faves have already been mentioned: Cosby Show and In Living Color. Look at all the stars that have emerged from the two! Jim Carey, the Wayans Brothers, Jamie Foxx, Adam Sandler (from Cosby show), and the list just goes on and on. Definitely two of my faves o all time! We need an In Living Color reunion!!!

    My favorite comedy group is Tongue-N-Cheek, the Improv group my son belongs to at Vanderbilt University. He was on the high school ComedySportz team. So much fun!!

    Everyone always touts the original SNL cast, but the next wave were pretty darn funny too:

    Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal, Piscopo, etc
    Then
    Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon, Etc

    Those sets really came up with some iconic characters and language that have endured.
