The web site is up (http://www.magicbirdbroadway.com/), the opening night is set (March 21), but there's nobody yet cast to play either Larry Bird or Magic Johnson in the upcoming Broadway production of the new play "Magic/Bird."
Here's what we do know:
--According to Playbill.com, previews will begin Feb. 27.
--In addition to the title duo, characters will include Red Auerbach and Bird's mother, Georgia.
--Thomas Kail, who directed Broadway's "Lombardi" and "In the Heights" will have the same duties here.
--The play was written by Eric Simonson, a Steppenwolf Theatre Company member who also penned "Lombardi."
--Although they are realistic enough to know that finding a pair of actors as towering as the real-life counterparts, the producers are still looking for heights that at least match each other, adding that "taller is good.""
--I'll do everything I can to be in New York for the opening and, of course, report here.
