[Mickey Maurer’s Sept. 21] column was right on! Totally to the point and about time someone stated the obvious.

Too bad our elected officials, you know, those who work for us, or are supposed to since they receive their pay from our taxes … When will this country begin once again to make people pay for their crime(s)? Do we simply let them year after year “get by” with bilking millions of dollars from investors (as in [Bernie] Madoff), and as you stated; the Securities and Exchange Commission says “oops” and they are still working, while honest, decent hard-working individuals are standing in the unemployment line, suffering daily? What is this world coming to?

Shock radio as it is called—yep, it’s shocking all right that this country allows this. Whatever happened to morals—did we throw those out? Or as you stated, try moose hunting for sport—maybe we should try “elected official hunting” instead.

This was absolutely one of your best columns. I applaud you.
