  1. I have an uncle who has been battling ALS for 5 years. I agree with Dr. Richard Bedlack in that finding a cure is where some of the money should go, however, supporting those who already have been diagnosed with the disease is a HUGE need. Almost every patient will need a motorized wheelchair and a vehicle which can accommodate a motorized chair which is very expensive. They also need modifications to their homes including ramps and bathroom fixtures added. I really hope they use most of these funds to help reduce the financial stress this disease can place on the families of those with the disease who become the caretakers. They should also have a better system for passing on these items (wheelchairs, vehicles) to the next family affected by the disease when they are no longer being used. It is hard enough to go through this disease, but to have it also become a financial burden on your family just adds to the overall devastating impact. If these funds can help relieve some of that burden it which make a HUGE impact in the ALS community!

  2. $243 mill seems like a lowball estimate...certainly it will cost more than that. The traffic is kind of bad, but doesn't warrant this kind of overhaul that will certainly reduce business for folks along 37.

  3. Someone who is unemployed will still be happy to take a job that makes $10-12 hour. Is it ideal? No. Is it a step in the right direction? Absolutely. Sometimes people need the boost of pride that just having a job can bring. Will it solve the living wage crisis? No. It will however give people an opportunity to demonstrate that they can add value to the workforce.

  4. In the redesign they need to remember people live and work on opposite sides of 37. Currently there is no way to walk or ride a bike from one side of 37 to the other which makes the road into a man made barrier for all pedestrians and cyclists. They need to be included in the redesign.
