tracyKV Racing Technology announced today that Paul Tracy will pilot a car for the team at the Camping World Grand Prix at the Glen, July 5, at Watkins Glen International Raceway.

Tracy will be sponsored by GEICO Insurance and drive the No. 15 GEICO - KV Racing Technology entry as a teammate to Mario Moraes.

“Running Paul at The Glen with Mario gives us the opportunity to maximize our efforts on a very challenging road course and provides Paul with a tune-up race before he competes in front of his hometown fans in Toronto,” KVRT co-owner Jimmy Vasser said. "I want to thank GEICO for stepping forward and making this possible, and I think I can speak for everyone at KVRT when I say that we are all very excited."

Tracy, who drove for KVRT at this year's Indianapolis 500, qualifying 13th and finishing ninth, will be contesting his first race on the 3.4-mile Watkins Glen permanent road course.

“I want to thank GEICO Insurance, Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser for the opportunity to compete in another race this year,” Tracy said. “I really enjoyed working with (general manager) Mark Johnson and the entire team last month at Indy and was looking forward to racing in the two events in Canada. Now, I have the opportunity to compete on one of the most famous circuits in the world for the first time. It feels a little strange that at this stage of my career that there are still some exciting challenges left, and racing at Watkins Glen, with all its history, is definitely a challenge, but one I am looking forward to meeting.”

  • What a joke this leege has become. its nothing but a sideshow anymore. WGA* about any of this.
  • In this particular instance, lots of Canadiens ... ya hoser.
  • Apparently you GA* about this because you constantly follow and comment on the leege. If its so painful, then stop following it.
  • What's changed, Da Hooey? Same leege, same team owners, same drivers (almost and even with rotating around with their dance cards), same support people. Be careful about ticking off those Canadian fans. THEY will hunt you down!!!
  • Wow! Stop the presses! I can't wait to see Sportscenter tonight! Paul Tracy in the Watkins Glen race! Woooooooweeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! Man, the buzz is building now for the IRL race at Watkins Glen! Hooooooooooo-daddy! Now if the IRL can just get Jeff Simmons back well, by gawd, Watkins Glen is gonna get a 0.8!
  • If you alo think putting PT in a car will bring ANY fans back to canada races, you are in for a big surprise. First: Canadian fans understand the damage TG has done to the sport. They are there to see REAL cars in a REAL race, not some gomerfied spec crap. Second: PT has lived outside of Canada for many years now. He is an American, just like Gaylio Twinkle Toes.

you know why I follow this still? I made it a point years ago to follow this train wreck until TG gets his due for the damage he has done to the entire OW racing community. I will not relent until he is gone from racing, exercising my RIGHT to point out the fallacy and utter failure his Leege is. Knowledge and Education will set you free.

The IRL: PT can;t sell any seats either.
  • Da Hooey,

Sorry you didn't catch my sarcasm. As you'll recall, I'm not in favor of TG or what he's done either. I do, however, support some of the people trying to stick it out, for whatever that's worth. I don't, at this point, believe they're all to be disparaged.
  • HOLey moly. Figgers I hate PAul Tracy an I hate road racign. SO I guses I gotta wach this one to see fat buoy screw up hahahahahahah OH hell I was gne to wach anyway but now I got someone to hate. I like to hate them CARt strret race loosers an RObun MIller hahahahaha
  • time to cue the fat lady. you losers who have your money on TOney better take it off the table, PDQ
  • First: Canadian fans understand the damage TG has done to the sport. They are there to see REAL cars in a REAL race, not some gomerfied spec crap.

Exactly! That's why nobody went to Edmonton last year! That was a failure, too! (Race weekend attendance was estimated 160,000 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Rexall_Edmonton_Indy)

Second: PT has lived outside of Canada for many years now. He is an American, just like Gaylio Twinkle Toes.

Exactly again! Canadians only cheer for current Canadian residents! Paul Tracy is totally irrelevant to them. That's also why they hated Jacques Villeneuve so much!

Knowledge and Education will set you free.

Good job, there Da Hooey! Your post is a great example of knowledge and education!
  • It is humorous to watch the TG/IRL haters try to turn every story about the IRL into something negative. For people who hate the series and claim to not care about it, you spend a lot of time writing about it.
  • Dana,

Da Hooey's just mad cause he can't dance and he doesn't get the quality of women as does Helio. Did you see his lady friend at the banquet? WOW, if Hooey can do that well, then he da man!

That plus the fact Hooey fell off the fence once and broke his bumper (insert SMILEY FACE here!)
  • Well, BerwickGirl has it about right, Dana. EXCEPT: Da Poopey could care less about the quality of Helio's girlfriend because Da Poopey, well, let's just say, he thinks Helio is cute but would rather be with Dario. This is well known for those who know who this guy actually is...
  • Sounds like Count Cracula is implying that Da Hooey is swinging on the same fence as he is. Not nice, Count, and more foolishness from the racing scion dream team.
  • BerwickGirl,

I am sitting around $20 million is racing inventory as I type this. My girlfriend is out shopping with my wife for outfits to wear on our little Gulf getaway after Iowa. What are you doing? Typing on Daddy's lap top, waiting for the Rod N Reel to open so you can go in and get lucky.

The Adam Lambert t-shirt is a nice touch, BerwickGirl. But the steel buns you seek will be turned off by it. You'd better go back to your sailor look.
  • Count Cracula:

I'm surprised the guy that cleans the floors and pretends he's an owner is capable of typing at all. But, oh well, so you went to the Evelyn WoodHead Sped Reddin and Clerk Typin School and gradiated with BiGirlFan. Impressive. A girl friend and a wife, huh, real class. Probably your cousins from Tucky. Sucks to be you man in your pretend world.

    Aye, Aye Matey!
  • Berwick Girl,

That is SO, so westside Indianapolis of you. Weak material. IS that what you got or are you bluffing? And no, it is two girlfriends and a wife. My other girlfriend is in Fiji this month, on holiday.

Sucks to be, yes. If you know what I mean.
  • Izod gear half-off, now that the Irl season is officially over
  • Well blow me down! First I heard I was a switch hitter! ;)

Dana: Nothing you typed makes ANY sesne at all. First: The Edmonton Race will be done after this year. Everyone KNOWS it lost tons of millions, hell just use the search button at TrackFor**. And while Canadians may have fond memories of PT and Jacques, those boys are retirees. This is a TYPICAL IrL marketing ploy....fill up the grid with Opies and Buddies and has beens and them crowds will fill to the brim! :gomer: How is that angle working out at Indy? lmfao.

No, the sad truth is, I won;t be around much longer. I can smell the stink that is the IRL, and when it is gone, I will be too. My work shall be completed, Tony will be broke, and we can begin to rebuild our once great sport.

The IRL: Bad Marketing, Bad Product, Bad Leadership.
  • You forgot The Irl: Because we only have one race
  • Izod stuff 80% off, because our season is over
  • Danicles says every NASCAR race weekend is like the Indy 500.

NASCAR has so many viewers and so many partners and there’s just lots of options both inside and outside the car. And it looks like fun. … It’s you racing against everyone else really.

. It’s kind of like the Indy 500 every weekend, so that’s a lot of fun as a driver to be part of something important and something people want to watch.
  • Da Hooey:

I was commenting on your assumption that that Canadians know better than to show up to see gomerfied spec crap. (post #6, look it up). You imply that they won't show up in Toronto or Edmonton. I provided an example where they did last year, and even gave you a link to show it wasn't something I made up. I didn't say anything about wether or not the promoter made any money.

You also said that the Canadian fans don't care about PT because he has lived outside of Canada for many years now. I guess I should have been more clear. They supported him before when he didn't live there (as recent as last year), why would it change now? Then also supported Villeneuve, who apart for when he was very young, pretty much never lived there. These were both examples of facts that I used to strengthen a point.

Does this make any more sense?
  • Oh what this once informative board has degenerated into. I hope Anthony and the IBJ are proud of it.
  • TOney can't get TOneybucks. What will happen the gIRl? Don't go away mad Jan

  1. How can any company that has the cash and other assets be allowed to simply foreclose and not pay the debt? Simon, pay the debt and sell the property yourself. Don't just stiff the bank with the loan and require them to find a buyer.

  2. If you only knew....

  3. The proposal is structured in such a way that a private company (who has competitors in the marketplace) has struck a deal to get "financing" through utility ratepayers via IPL. Competitors to BlueIndy are at disadvantage now. The story isn't "how green can we be" but how creative "financing" through captive ratepayers benefits a company whose proposal should sink or float in the competitive marketplace without customer funding. If it was a great idea there would be financing available. IBJ needs to be doing a story on the utility ratemaking piece of this (which is pretty complicated) but instead it suggests that folks are whining about paying for being green.

  5. Please consider a couple of economic realities: First, retail is more consolidated now than it was when malls like this were built. There used to be many department stores. Now, in essence, there is one--Macy's. Right off, you've eliminated the need for multiple anchor stores in malls. And in-line retailers have consolidated or folded or have stopped building new stores because so much of their business is now online. The Limited, for example, Next, malls are closing all over the country, even some of the former gems are now derelict.Times change. And finally, as the income level of any particular area declines, so do the retail offerings. Sad, but true.
