than once every 15 seconds.
The board decided signs changing more often could become distracting or dangerous for drivers. An industry group had wanted
the shorter time to make more money, Plan Director Kenny Hale told the Martinsville Reporter-Times
for a story Nov. 11.
The ordinance requires permits for all types of permanent signs, penalties from $10 to $2,500 per day for violations, and
restrictions on how long temporary signs may be displayed. It prohibits animated signs, signs placed on vehicles or trailers,
or roof-mounted signs.
