Coming soon Indianapolis Plenty of fast-food and fast-casual restaurants are expanding in the area. Here are a few set to pop up soon:

  • Dairy Queen and Dunkin Donuts will accompany a new Marathon gas station planned for the northwest corner of Meridian and 90th streets on the 1.2-acre site of a vacant service station. The plans call for drive-throughs for both Dairy Queen and Dunkin Donuts and a design that's consistent with newer commercial (mostly office) development along Meridian between 86th and 96th streets.
  • McAlister's Deli is taking a 5,500-square-foot space in front of LA Fitness and Fresh Market along East 146th Street between Greyhound Pass and Carey Road in Westfield. McAlister's also plans to construct a new building with better visibility for its location at the southwest corner of 116th Street and Keystone Avenue in Carmel, in a center with a vacant Borders.
  • Panda Express plans to build a new restaurant in Noblesville across Campus Parkway from Hamilton Town Center and opposite an Olive Garden. The Chinese chain is building a freestanding 2,600-square-foot building.
  • Wendy's will build a new restaurant just across Interstate 69 in Fishers, near Olio Road and Olivia Way. The 3,300-square-foot restaurant will join Taco Bell at the corner.
  • Chicago's Pizza is building a 4,000-square-foot restaurant in Greenfield at State Street and McKenzie Road, just north of Hancock Regional Hospital.
  • Fast Burrito plans new restaurant for 1,500 square feet in a strip center at 75th Street and Shadeland Avenue. The first store for the homegrown concept is in the first floor of Chase Tower.

Editor's Note: Check back here and follow @PropertyLines for a flurry of Indianapolis retail news updates filed from the industry's annual deal-making convention this week in Las Vegas.

Update: Post has been corrected to reflect McAlister's Deli plans to add a store in Westfield and construct a new building for its location at 116th Street and Keystone Avenue in Carmel.

  • Good for Chicago's
Back in my teens/early 20s, Chicago's in Greenfield was a spot where my friends and I ate on a constant basis. Chicago's has always offered good pizza and bread sticks, but after getting married and buying a home, their prices and locations have made it so I would only get their pizza once every three years. They have expanded into McCordsville, but sadly closed the downtown Indy store years ago (this was the coolest layout for a restaurant in my opinion).

Just recently we decided to try Chicago's at the old Greenfield location. While it was clean, they haven't updated much over the last five years or so. Still the same layout, booths, tables, etc.. I made a comment to my wife about how that place hasn't changed in years. Good to see they are doing well enough to build a newer building.
  • McAllisters
Minor correction: I think you mean the current McAllisters is at 116th and Keystone and not 146th.

Man, another tenet leaving that Merchant's square area of Carmel. Eventually I think that whole area is going to have to be redeveloped and redesigned. 116th and Keystone should be a thriving area...
  • more at 69/campus pkwy?
Any idea what is going in behind the Mike's Carwash, across from the Cambria Suites on Tegler Dr near Hamilton Town Center?
    • Following up
DRT: Good catch, my bad. I've corrected the location of McAlister's in the post.

KB: Could it be the Panda Express mentioned above? That's right about where it is planned.
    • Re: Following up
Cory: No, different addresses. Panda express is 13305 Tegler Dr and you can see it's location is actually RIGHT NEXT to Olive Garden in this document (p. 26):

According to this: the company is ENVISION 2010 HOLDING, LLC and the address is 13455 TEGLER DRIVE. Looks to be a larger sit-down restaurant, behind Mike's Car Wash, across from the Cambria.
    • BJ's
KB: I wonder if it's the new BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse. That's my guess since Simon said it is not actually part of Hamilton Town Center. (For some reason our CMS isn't allowing me to include a link here, but you can find the earlier post by searching for BJ's in the search box above left.)
    • yep
I bet you are right. That was my thought, but it didn't match the location indicated by your post. But since it's not actually part of HTC, the timing seems to line up.
    • DiBella's
DiBella's also has a Coming Soon sign at The Avenue. I think that would be the second in the city after the Traders Point location Cory reported in January.
    • DM
Actually, next to Mike's Carwash is going to be a Famous Dave's BBQ
    • not surprised
that another tenant leaving 116th and going farther north...continuous suburban sprawl is to blame. "Hard do access" argument is pretty weak.
    • McAllister's
Actually this says they are not leaving 116th st just moving from the building that's 2 blocks in back to the front. Probably in one of the two open retaurants there.

The new one at 146th is not in the LA Fitness Plaza at least you cannot get there from LA fitness. I would call it the Stein Mart or Fresh Market plaza. Three local restaurants have failed there mainly because it is difficult to see if your on 146th St. Actually kindof the problem with the store on 116th St.
    • DQ
Dairy Queen is taking over the defunct Starbucks location at South Keystone and National.
    • Jack in the Box
Looks like the Fishers Jack in the Box is ready to open - do you know when that will be?
    • Behind Mikes Carwash
It is a Famous Daves Barbeque
    • BJ's Brewhouse
Are they indeed going up there? I was told by BJ's directly they had no new stores planned in the area...
    • BJ's
Lauren: I reported BJ's plans based on their filing for construction permits. Of course, it's possible the plans fell through. Will update if I can find out more.
    • UGH
And they wonder why we keep building more hospitals. What we need is more farm markets!
    • Fast Food Paradise
Great news! Let's turn Hamilton Town Center into Lil' Castleton! Surely, a KFC, Burger King and Subway will be next!
    • Donut Shop
I'll stick with the Donut shop on North Keystone. The food is good, the prices are low, and oddly enough, I can diet there better than any of the others mentioned above. And you never know who might show up there.
    • New development at Hamilton Town Center
They just put the sign up's a Famous Dave's Barbecue.
    • Any Mermaid Sightings?
Any hope out there for a Starbucks close to Hamilton Towne Center?
    • DD
They will be building one on South East St. By the 465 exit across from Southern Plaza Shopping Center
