  • Orange Leaf and Qdoba have opened downtown in City Way at the intersection of Delaware and South streets.
  • Another Qdoba, in Southern Plaza at 4200 S. East St., is set to open April 15.

  • Frozen Yogurt
Seriously, another one? I really don't mind, but I just don't see how all of these frozen yogurt places will survive. I'm really surprised that they would build one on the circle when there's already a new one opening up around the corner on Washington.
  • Cursed
Wow, That location that used to be Scotty's is cursed! First Damon's, then that one place, and now Scotty's. detour shouldn't even waste their time.
  • Yogurt insanity
I can't believe what I'm reading about the frozen yogurt. By the end of this month there will be THREE frogurt stands on Mass Ave and at least two more on Mon Circle. Who the heck is buying all this yogurt?
  • Need more yogurt!
I won't rest until Indianapolis has the highest yogurt-per-capita ratio in America. I can't believe that some streets only have 2 yogurt shops. That needs to change NOW.
  • What century is this?
Didn't we already do this in the 80's?
  • Rainbows don't last forever
Red mango, orange leaf, pink berry.... In twenty years I'll still be eating Dairy Queen.
  • Actually...
... the trend with these high end yougurt places is one that Indy is VERY late getting into. Pinkberry and the like have been, and continue to be, pretty hot in other cities that I've lived recently (los Angeles, Miami). And as much as I love DQ too, frozen yogurt is a much healthier alternative. These places aren't the TCBY that many of us likely remember from our childhoods here in Indiana. The product has improved many fold.
    • mom wont eat there
After mominlaw got a $5 bill for a small yoghurt at one of these fancy places, she won't go anymore. I think the fall out will happen fast. I am really happy with the Einstein's move downtown and love the much better space. (It is so much closer to us.)
    • Fresh Market
While talking about healthy alternatives...I noticed a Fresh Market going up on 116th street in Fishers in front of LA fitness.
    • It's good, but not healthy.
I'm not convinced that frozen yogurt is any healthier than ice cream. It may have marginally less fat, but it's still packed with sugar. Which I do like in my desserts, but I'm not going to be fooled into thinking it's healthy.
    • 56th and Emerson
Can someone please look into what is happening at 56th and Emerson at the old O'Malia's location? There have been lots of meetings and activity- apparently a grocer will be going in plus other retailers. They are planning on building a whole new building to face 56th street. Does anyone know specifics?
      • @Sarah: Red Garter North
Sarah, the development at 56th and Emerson is going to be a new strip club called Red Garter North. In fact, that whole intersection is planned to be Indy's Red Light District. I read that Red Garter just doesn't have the space in its current location to set the Guinness World Record for largest stripper stage. Hope this helps.
      • It's cheapo soft-serve by any other name
Marshall and the Yogurdefenders: I don't think Indy is that late in the coming. We have plenty of local efforts, some of which have been here for 3 or 4 years, and Red Mango has already left the market (among many others). For there to be THIS many yogurt places, the marginal cost in preparing the stuff must be mondo cheapo; probably like selling bulk candy at those now-defunct Mr. Bulky's or the Sweet Factory. Still think we will reach the saturation point, and yes, the fad will end. But I know those of you who have an investment in these Trojan Horses probably don't want to hear that.

Bravo!_____NBCSN is available in almost 2 MILLION more homes than just a few years ago, but Indycar STILL gets less total viewers than it did just a few years ago when NBC took over Versus. Attendance and ratings cratered with the end of season races (just when the title battle got "interesting" HAH!__________And now...new race in Basilia, where Miles celebrated the "rich history" of Indycar racing there. 5. Problem: most of the people responding to this article don't know about this service AT ALL! Why? Lack of awareness. This isn't IndyGo. This is CIRTA: might as well be the mattress company because they are asleep at the wheel - something like 3 directors over the last year? Playing with federal grant money is great! This "region" wants commuter rail service, has spent MILLIONS on Transportation studies yet can't even support a commuter bus line? This is largely for suburban riders to get to downtown - not for "service people to work in our hotels and restaurants" ! Get your head out of your backside!! These are professionals, students etc. that don't want to fight traffic, save some money on parking, gas, stress.... if CIRTA would put their federal money into widely promoting the sevive to Greenwood, Fishers & Carmel instead of finding directors and studies - this would be a successful service. Our family uses(d) it daily for the last several years - but the recent uncertainty & now unreliability due to cuts from Carmel has been a problem. Now, costs us an additional $350/month for gas & parking ( $4200/year) plus vehicle wear, service, environmental impact ... YES - this REGION needs this this type of service in order to keep growing and getting the people it needs to fill skilled positions in downtown Indianapolis. Think outside of your own car !!!
