Shoppers World taking former Target space

Discount department-store chain Shoppers World has signed a deal to take over a shuttered Target store on the south side. The New York-based chain agreed to lease the 85,000-square-foot space in Felbram Plaza North shopping center along U.S. 31 South from New York-based Nassimi Realty. Target closed the store when its lease expired in January 2009. The new Shoppers World store is scheduled to open in March, said Andrew Levian, a leasing agent with Nassimi. Shoppers World has one other location in Indianapolis, in Lafayette Square mall. That store opened in 2008, taking a 100,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by J.C. Penney.     Shoppers World also has a great website, www.shoppersworldusa.com. You can check it out. The stores have MUCH more, but I called and they are working to put all their stuff online.

    This is a plus for the near-Southside. When Target left, it seemed like we'd see an anchor site left to rot for over a decade, like the old Target on West Washington at I-465. This site has only been vacant for a year or so.

      It may not be the kind of place I'd shop at often, but it's much better than that rathole furniture store that takes up space where the former Target store was on E. Washington Street.

        I think that a comment is fine, but if your going to just flat out bash the place then leave well enough alone. I think that it will be a great place for people who can't afford to go to the mall. I think that it's a plus and it also put some americans to work!
