Broad Ripple Ice Cream Station, or BRICS, is scheduled to open this spring in the
former Whistle Stop Deli location on the Monon Trail, at 901 E. 64th St. The locally owned ice cream shop will feature 40
hand-dipped flavors, homemade waffle cones, malts, shakes and a selection of soups and sandwiches. The owners, Nonie
and David Vonnegut-Gabovitch and Jennifer and David DuBow, plan to add Wi-Fi, an indoor fireplace and a station for Monon
Trail users to fill water bottles. - Flatwater Restaurant on the Canal has opened in the former Canal Point Grill space at 832 Westfield Boulevard. The menu features several fish options, small plates like tacos and sliders and appetizers ranging from a Sweet and Spicy Asian Shrimp Saute to Best of the Wurst, an assortment of local meats.The owner is Michael Yount.
- Scotty’s Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Company, a microbrewery and tasting room, is planned for the former Sunflower Market space at 1021 Broad Ripple Ave. Owner Scott Wise also expects the building to centralize corporate operations for Scotty's Brewhouse, including a commissary kitchen and business operations. IBJ first reported on the plans in February.
- Monon Food Co., a homegrown fast-casual restaurant, is slated to open next to Plump's Last Shot in Broad Ripple, as we first reported in February. The restaurant will take the former home of Hoghead's BBQ at 6420 Cornell Ave. Owner Tim Williams said the restaurant will serve "healthy comfort food" sourced locally whenever possible.
