  • Compass roseThe North Face plans to open its first Indiana store at The Fashion Mall at Keystone near Pottery Barn in the former home of Raleigh Ltd. The California-based outdoors gear supplier has 32 locations. The Fashion Mall store is scheduled to open in October.
  • Raleigh Ltd. at The Fashion Mall is working on a move to a larger space next to Coldwater Creek. Meantime, the store is operating out of a temporary location near Nordstrom.
  • Kimu Asian Restaurant is set to open in July in strip center space next to Yats along U.S. 31 near County Line Road in Greenwood. The 2,100-square-foot restaurant is owned by Salai Pi.
  • Discount Tire Co. has filed plans to open a new store at 11705 Olio Rd. in Fishers. The 9,000-square-foot shop will be the 10th in the area for the Arizona-based chain.
  • The Tamale Place, known for its handmade tamales, tortillas and tortilla chips, is moving from its current home at 5242 Rockville Road into 2,200 square feet of new space at 23 N. Lynhurst Drive. The homegrown spot is owned by Angela Green and Vladimir Ronces.
  • Panda Express plans to move its restaurant at 7035 E. 96th St., in front of Menards, to the other side of Interstate 69, in front of Meijer. The restaurant hopes to open the 2,350-square-foot building in December.
  • The Vitamin Shoppe plans to open its fourth Indianapolis-area store in a new strip center called Washington Square Commons. The New Jersey-based chain is taking 3,600 square feet.
  • Aspen Dental also plans to open a new office, its 16th in the area, at the shopping center at 10110 E. Washington St. The dental chain will take 3,400 square feet in the Thompson Thrift-developed center.
  • Jockamo Pizza
They have also announced that a 2nd location of Jockamo will open somewhere in Old Town Greenwood in October.
  • Really?
Is the opening of a Panda Express really news?

    Excited for North Face though!!!!
  • Carmel
The Blu Mooncafe is opening today at the Indiana Design Center. There have been a number of flagship compaines who have recently signed leases with the IDC in the last couple of weeks.
    • Longhorn Steakhouse
I read in another post (and after doing some research) that the old Smokey Bones building in front of Castleton Mall is being converted into a Longhorn Steakhouse.
      • Blu Moon
I am devouring the Blu Moon panini special of the day - a friend green tomato on wheat with spinach and blu cheese - while reading this. It's fantastic.
        • No fried friends
          "FRIED" green tomato!
        • Longhorn Steakhouse
That is correct about the Longhorn Steakhouse coming to the old Smoky Bones location.
        • North Face
North Face will be a great addition. Looking forward to that.
        • Pei Wei Asian Diner
Has anybody heard anything else about
Pei Wei Asian Diner coming to Glendale Town Center?
        • Glendale
Glendale is a dying area. I don't think any new businesses will be opening there anytime soon. It probably will be shut down within the next 5 years with Macys and the movie theater closing.
        • Glendale?
I'm a bit more bullish on Glendale Sophia. Panera, Jimmy Johns, Target, Monicals, ect are all new to that center. Target has been an especially strong draw, and that Macy's location has had much stronger sales since the old mall was torn down. I don't expect the shopping center to be as strong as our regional malls, but Kite did a good job of reinventing this dieing commerical district and getting those vacancies filled. They still have a way to go, but it's leaps and bounds better than having another 90% empty Lafayette Square.
        • Pei Wei

I have heard from a reliable source that Pei Wei Asian Diner is coming to Glendale Town Center. They are taking an end cap.
          • Seriously Sophia?
Glendal is definitely NOT a dying area - it's an area full of resurgence and fueled by Meridian Kessler money!
          • Broadripple/Glendale
Yeah right Sophia they have been trying to kill off Glendale for years. Who said Macy's was closing, most people prefer Glendale's location over Castleton's.
Anyhoo I walked past the former Sunflower Market and see that Scotty's Brewery, Three Wise Men has applied for a liquor license in that location so hopefully they will be taking that spot. Red Eye Cafe formerly of downtown has now opened in the old Pizza King/Tin Star location on Broadripple Ave.
          • Cardinal Fitness in BR
Rumor is the building is sold and will no longer be Cardinal Fitness. Anyone hear that or have any legit facts to back it?
          • tacos??
Hopefully West Coast Tacos moves into the Cardinal Fitness building. They are delicious!!!
          • Cardinal, Glendale
Glendale Macy's is among the highest grossing per SF. Its not going anywhere. The Movie Theater may change hands, due to anti-trust laws, but it will remain a movie theater.

Cardinal Fitness is going to be an IKEA. You heard it here first. :)
            • Pei Wei Sign
Yep it is official the Pei Wei coming soon sign is up at Glendale Town Center
            • Lafayette Square?
Lafayette Square is a pretty good turnaround. Look inside. Its closer to 90% occupied than 90% vacant. New ownership has done a good job stabilizing this property considering what they have to work with.
            • Not the highest but...
The Glendale Macy's does about $22 million vs. the high water mark of the former LS Ayres store there of about $50 million. It is by no means the highest grossing anything, but still does an acceptable level of business as is not likely to go away any time soon.
            • Downtown
Anyone know if anything is happening with the old Abbey location on Penn by the Central Library? It would be great to see something cool and funky here. . .
            • Store Relocations/Closings
Bebe Gate is taking the old Honeysuckle Home store on Broadripple Ave.
News Cafe at 54th & College is now closed.
              Broadripple Steakhouse is now closed.
            • Pei Wei rules!!
I hope for the sake of Glendale that Pei Wei DOES come to Glendale. There were 3 P.W's in the area I lived in in N.C. and they are hugely successful---and DELICIOUS! Yea! Pei Wei!!
            • PEI WEI
Finally after moving from Phoenix in 2002 my emails have been answered. I have gone through withdrawls.
